Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's

How do I install a modem init string?

Double click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop, and then again on the 'Dial-Up Networking' folder.

Right click on the First Link connection that you use to connect to the Internet, and select PROPERTIES with the Left button.

Down the bottom of this page, you will see what modem Dial-Up Networking is using to make the connection, and under that, there should be a CONFIGURE button.

In the next screen that comes up, click on the CONNECTION tab at the top. On this page there is a button down the bottom called ADVANCED, left click on that once.

This is the screen where we need to enter the information. Down the bottom you will see a section called 'Extra Settings' where there is a white text box. It is in this box that you should enter the INIT string.

Once this is done, keep clicking the OK button until you get back to your Dial-Up Networking folder. You are now ready to connect using the new INIT string.
