Step D: Connecting to First Link Internet Services.

This final section will guide you through connecting to your nearest First Link POP.

Double click on My Computer and then again on Dial-Up Networking. You will see an icon with First Link written on it. By double clicking on this icon, it will bring up a window called Connecting to First Link.

You will need to enter in your username and password that you supplied First Link Internet Services upon signing up. Enter both of these in lower case, i.e. small letters like this and not like THIS.

Click on the Connect button (ensure your modem is switched on before you click Connect).

You now should hear the modem dial and make a connection to First Link. Once this has been done, you will see a window pop up saying Verifying username and password. Once these have been verified by our system it will disappear off the screen and a connect status window will come up indicating that your connection has been successful.

Now that your connection to First Link has been succesful, you will be able to run programs such as Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer and any other winsock-compliant internet software. Many of these programs are listed on the main page.

To disconnect at any time, bring up the Connection to First Link window and click on the disconnect button. This can be generally found down on your start bar at the bottom of your screen on the right hand-side next to the clock. To bring it up, just double click on it.

Your Windows95 computer system should be now configured with the correct settings to make a sucessful connection to First Link Internet Services.
